How to get to Mainz

The largest train stations near Mainz are Frankfurt am Main main station and Frankfurt airport station. The train ride from Frankfurt to Mainz takes about 40 min. You can use the S-Bahn service S8 or Regional Express trains. Frankfurt airport station which is operated by public transport as well as long-distance trains is located on this train route.

How to get to the symposium at the University of Mainz and the social events?
Mainz main station (“Hauptbahnhof”) and Mainz University (“Universität”) are connected via a variety of busses (services 6, 54, 55, 56, 57, 64, 65, 68, 75, 90, 91, 650) and trams (services 51, 53 and 59). The nearest bus stop to our meeting point at the Christmas Market is “Am Höfchen / Listmann”.
For joining us at the Weinhaus Michel the nearest bus station is “Altstadt/Holzhof”.
For our reception at wednesday at the Museum für Antike Schiffahrt wedenesday the nearest bus station is “Römisches Theater”.
Ticktes are available at ticketmachines at the plattforms and the conducter sell them. A single ticket costs 2,80€. But if your route ranges less than 3 stations the MVG offers a single ticket for short distances “Kurzstreckenticket” for 1,75€ (e. g. “Mainz Hauptbahnhof” – “Universität Mainz”).
